3. Distance

exploration | solitude | black & white | landscape photography | stop-motion
Unable to reach our goal, worse, working against it, we search for the answer outside of our world in the ‘Distance’. What we find, we alter too

The ambiguous nature of these images is what interested me; neither from here nor there, ominous in their uncertainty; taking something which was created by a robot with no consciousness, for practical reasons, and giving it new meaning. Viewing these representations as a moving-image sequence, the visual logic of the landscape is broken, inviting you to look at them in an unexpected way.

Nasa’s Curiosity Rover
has to take a picture every time it moves as it navigates its way on the surface of Mars, communicating with Earth, which results in a truly beautiful and odd documentation of its journey.
